Founded
in 1974 by Joe and Julie Walker, Obra Verde Growers is located
in the lush foothills of northern San Diego County. Obra, a Spanish
word with a triple meaning, is defined as work, product and virtue. Verde
is also a Spanish word meaning green. Obra Verde Growers began
with a few varieties of wax-flower that were being commercially grown
in San Diego County. Sensing the need for a propagator of wax-flower and
leptospermum, Obra Verde seized the opportunity and began to dig
its niche. Orders started coming in quicker than they could be processed.
Over the last 25 years, Obra Verde has expanded its grower-shipper operation
to over 100 varieties of mostly South African and Australian filler flowers
and greens.
Obra Verde's continued success is attributed to the dedication
and enthusiasm of its staff which, includes the Walker children. Many
Obra Verde employees have been with the company over 15 years and have
developed a varied and professional knowledge of the particular varieties
grown. Obra Verde Growers10916 Mystery
