Agonis
(Ti Tree Fine, Ti Tree Coarse and Red Southern Cross)
Obra
Verde currently offers three species for cut flower, foliage and plant
sales, including Agonis parviceps, Agonis juniperina and Agonis flexuosa.
Agonis
Parviseps (Fine Ti Tree Flower)
Unique
characteristics of the Fine Ti Tree include long, erect stems with profuse
blooms along the entire length. This species takes very well to immersion
dying and blooms from late fall to early spring. The foliage is available
all year. Fine Ti Tree is featured in the above photo.
Agonis
A. Juniperina (Coarse Ti Tree Flower)
Coarse
Ti Tree blooms from summer to late fall. This handsome species demonstrates
graceful, twisting white stems which explode with clusters of white blooms.
The blooms are nestled in dark green, small needle-like leaves. Ti Tree
Flower takes well to immersion dyes.
Agonis
A. Juniperina (Coarse Ti Tree or Warren River Cedar)
This hardy, versatile
foliage is available all year. Dark green, small, needle-like leaves are
supported by upright, papery, white stems. The feathery, cedar like appearance
of this agonis makes it a favorite for Christmas arrangements.
Agonis
Flexuosa (Red Southern Cross)
A relative newcomer
to the Obra Verde list, Red Southern Cross is quickly becoming an industry
favorite. Vibrant leaves swirl in hues ranging from dark to light green
ending in tips highlighted with crimson red. Keith White, in Floral Management
Magazine (December 2000) calls it " a stunning substitute for ferns
or standard greens in arrangements, or it can stand alone." Available
from December through January, this gorgeous green is destined to become
an industry standard.
